Mani Nezhad, MD
Vascular Neurology · Stroke · EMG/NCS
Dr. Nezhad is a board-certified adult and vascular neurologist focused on state-of-the-art care for stroke and cerebrovascular disease. Within our practice, his focus is electrodiagnostic medicine.
About Dr. Nezhad
He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, studied at USC, and earned his master's and medical degrees at Georgetown University. He returned to Southern California for neurology training at Cedars-Sinai, where he served as chief resident, and completed a vascular neurology fellowship under Dr. Patrick Lyden.
He serves as neuroscience medical director and stroke program medical director at St. John's, where he helped build the region's only Joint Commission-certified, thrombectomy-capable stroke center. He performs EMG, NCV, TCD, EEG, BAEP, and VEP studies.
An expert in EMG and nerve conduction studies, he uses them to pinpoint the source of nerve and muscle symptoms (numbness, weakness, radiating pain) and turn an uncertain diagnosis into a clear, targeted treatment plan. His results go straight to the physician who ordered them, so a pinched nerve, carpal tunnel syndrome, or neuropathy can be treated without a separate referral elsewhere.

Studies performed
EMG
Electromyography: records the electrical activity of muscles to detect nerve or muscle damage.
NCS / NCV
Nerve conduction studies: measure how fast and how strongly signals travel along a nerve.
TCD
Transcranial Doppler: ultrasound of blood flow in the brain’s arteries.
EEG
Electroencephalography: records the brain’s electrical activity.
BAEP and VEP
Evoked potentials: test the hearing and visual pathways to the brain.
